Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (D-CA) recently withdrew her chair candidacy for the House Democratic Caucus. Currently, she serves as Vice Chair for the HDC—the fifth highest ranking Democratic position. Her withdrawal announcement comes shortly after her husband, James Sullivan, was charged with misusing public funds in Connecticut. Congresswoman Sánchez has commented earlier this year that House leadership needs a "generational change," and she personally called out House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to step down.
Although Sánchez should not be held responsible for the actions of her husband, it is disappointing to hear that another accomplished woman is being politically tied for the actions of a spouse. Sánchez plans to continue representing her constituents.

About this Blog
During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of American politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges. This blog is on the open Internet, so post nothing that you would not want a potential employer to see. Syllabus: http://gov20h.blogspot.com/2023/08/draft-introduction-to-american-politics.html
