About this Blog

During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of American politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges. This blog is on the open Internet, so post nothing that you would not want a potential employer to see. Syllabus: http://gov20h.blogspot.com/2023/08/draft-introduction-to-american-politics.html

Analogy between Personal Finance and Gov20H

Just a fun article from Yahoo Finance about how little people know about personal finance. We have discussed the lack of knowledge about the US government, so I think this is a nice analogy on how little people actually know about important things. In this case, not knowing how to save for retirement seems absolutely terrifying. This article also notes that some people do know about personal finance: "Yes, the clueless millennial contingent certainly exists, but there are others who will surprise you with their knowledge." Continuing with this analogy, we should be the "others who will surprise you with their knowledge" on the US government. /endbragging
