About this Blog

During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of American politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges. This blog is on the open Internet, so post nothing that you would not want a potential employer to see. Syllabus: http://gov20h.blogspot.com/2023/08/draft-introduction-to-american-politics.html

Nikki Haley resigns as US ambassador to UN

"Nikki Haley has resigned as the US ambassador to the United Nations and will leave her post in January, in a move that stunned allied diplomats and other senior officials."
Nikki Haley to Resign as Trump’s Ambassador to the U.N.

Though Trump said that he was notified six month before of her resignation, the time that she made this announcement is still suspicious. Why did she choose the time just before midterm election?

Perhaps her announcement was triggered over the administration’s tepid response to the disappearance and possible murder of Post Global Opinions contributor Jamal Khashoggi, a prominent Saudi journalist and critic of the Saudi government.

Or would it possible that her resignation is due to her discontent with the appointment of Kavanaugh? She was a strong advocate for woman's right and said in last December that women who had accused Mr. Trump of sexual misconduct “should be heard, and they should be dealt with.”
