The House is in a mess, Paul Ryan (R) is taking the position of Speaker, and the Republicans are dominating the Senate. Prof Pitney said in class today that the President elect usually reflects the direction of the economy. If a Republican takes the next Presidency, what could be the potential consequences for the Democratic Party? What would a comeback entail at this point? Here is an opinion from Vox criticizing Democrat complacency: here.
Do you agree that the Republicans seem to be acting on a battle plan while the Democrats appear to be laying low?

About this Blog
During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of American politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges. This blog is on the open Internet, so post nothing that you would not want a potential employer to see. Syllabus: http://gov20h.blogspot.com/2023/08/draft-introduction-to-american-politics.html
